The Architect
Every sound you hear passed through his hands first.
Bolie Jackson is the Architect.
Before Chicago, there was Marquette, Michigan — piano and drums at six years old, and a childhood spent taking electronics apart just to see how they worked. That’s still the blueprint: deconstruct the sound, learn its skeleton, rebuild it heavier. Some kids broke their toys. Bolie was reverse-engineering his.
The path ran through night school to a GED, then to DePaul — Philosophy and Ancient Religions on one track, music production and engineering on the other. That double wiring shows up in every session: technical focus married to deep curiosity. Detailed, thoughtful, emotionally grounded. The frame beneath the noise.
At HecticMindstate, Bolie is the core architect behind the board — every JAMES I.V. project carries his fingerprint in the mix and the master. Weight and space. Chicago discipline in every decibel. His range doesn’t stop at the label either: television, film, and video games have all run his mixes and sound design, and the work adapts wherever it lands.
Off the clock he’s a self-described nerd — funk, science fiction, comics, cult TV, retro media, fringe culture. None of it is off-duty, really. All of it quietly feeds the textures: vintage character fused with futuristic sonics, the warm and the cold in the same frame.
You’ve already heard him. Every album on HECTICMUSIC closes with the same credit: Mixed & Mastered by Bolie Jackson.
Full bio on the HECTICMINDS page. Friday, the frequency stops behaving.
