WAXY KILROY
EMCEE /SONGWRITER / PRODUCER
Kiro Williams, known as Waxy Kilroy, is an emcee, songwriter, producer, and DJ whose work weaves together Hip-Hop, Electronic, and R&B into a distinct, cinematic sound. Born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, in the Kokusai Dori district of Naha, he grew up at the intersection of cultures—shaped by a U.S. Marine father and an Eisa dancer mother—and that blend of worlds continues to inform his music.
He started deejaying local clubs at fourteen, learning to program synths and drum machines at his cousin’s studio while developing a parallel love for English through poetry, short stories, and lyrics. That mix of technical skill and storytelling became the foundation of his approach as both producer and writer.
In his final year of high school, Waxy relocated to Chicago to live with his grandmother, where he met Cinque and Quince Martin of The Human Condition (THC). Their collaboration led him deeper into production and lyricism and eventually connected him with JAMES I.V., who recognized his unique sound, sharp writing, and creative eccentricity. Joining the HecticMinds collective became a defining chapter in his evolution as an artist.
Outside the booth, Waxy is a gamer, vinyl collector, conspiracy enthusiast, foodie, and chess player—interests that mirror the curiosity and detail in his work. His influences span Bernard Purdie, Yuji Ohno, McFadden & Whitehead, Gwen Guthrie, and Keni Burke to Pharrell, Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Kaytranada, Thundercat, Black Milk, and The Internet.
Through layered production, narrative-driven lyrics, and a genre-fluid palette, Waxy Kilroy continues to expand his sound while contributing a global perspective to the HecticMindstate ecosystem.
